Mackenzie Beach, Beach in Larnaca, Cyprus
Mackenzie Beach is a roughly 1000-meter-long stretch of sand along the Mediterranean with fine grains in shades of grey, brown, and beige. The shore is equipped with changing rooms, showers, sunbeds, umbrellas, and lifeguard coverage during summer months.
The beach took its name from a Scottish resident named McKenzie who built a structure near the shore in the late 1940s. This name has defined the place's identity ever since.
The waterfront regularly hosts art exhibitions and features an outdoor stage for concerts right by the water. These venues shape the social rhythm of the place throughout the year.
The beach is well equipped for a comfortable day with showers, toilets, and rest areas available. Lifeguards patrol from June through October, working daily from 10:30 to 18:00.
The beach offers a rare vantage point to watch aircraft landing at Larnaca International Airport, as planes fly directly overhead during their approach. This unusual feature blends swimming with plane spotting.
