Armenian Genocide Memorial in Larnaca, Monument at seafront marina in Larnaca, Cyprus

The Armenian Genocide Memorial in Larnaca is a harbor monument featuring a bronze sculpture at its center, surrounded by pomegranate and cypress trees. At its base sit four granite plaques inscribed in different languages that convey information to visitors.

The memorial commemorates Armenians who fled during the 1915-1923 genocide and reached safety through Larnaca Port. This historical escape route made the city a vital refuge for thousands of people in distress.

The memorial expresses the bond between Armenia and Cyprus through inscriptions in four languages that visitors encounter while walking along the harbor. These different languages reflect the diversity of people who come to honor the site.

The memorial stands right next to the marina entrance and is easy to reach from the seafront promenade. It works best to visit during quieter times in the morning or late afternoon when fewer people are about.

Artist Georgios Kalakallas created the central bronze figure as a result of bilateral collaboration between Cyprus and Armenia. This artistic partnership shows how two countries worked together to honor a shared history.
