Ninho da Manta

Bussardnest is a scenic viewpoint located near Pico do Areeiro on Madeira, offering views across mountain ranges and deep valleys. From this spot, you can see the rugged landscape of the island and sometimes the ocean stretching toward the horizon on clear days.

On certain days, a thick layer of clouds settles into the valley below while you stand above it on the viewpoint, creating a white blanket effect. This phenomenon often happens in the early morning and creates an almost otherworldly experience.
