Saint Martin's Basilica features Neo-Byzantine architecture with a central dome crowned by a monumental statue of the patron saint of Tours.
The first building was constructed in the 5th century by Bishop Perpetuus to house the tomb of Saint Martin, Bishop of Tours who died in 397.
This basilica serves as a major pilgrimage center since the Middle Ages, drawing faithful from across Europe to Saint Martin's tomb.
Visitors can enter the basilica from 7:30 AM to 9:15 PM in summer and until 7:00 PM in winter, with daily masses at 11:00 AM.
Saint Martin's tomb lies in the crypt, preserved after the rediscovery of his relics in 1860 which led to the construction of the current basilica.
