Promenade Jean-Paul Belmondo, Cycling path on Bir-Hakeim Bridge, Paris, France.
The Jean-Paul Belmondo Promenade is a protected cycling path running along the central reservation of Bir-Hakeim Bridge and links the 15th and 16th districts across the Seine. The path stretches roughly 400 meters and provides cyclists and pedestrians with a dedicated crossing, framed throughout by views of the Eiffel Tower.
The Bir-Hakeim Bridge was built in 1905 as a major crossing for vehicles and the Paris Metro. The cycling path received its current name in 2023 to commemorate the French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, who died in 2021.
This location marks where Jean-Paul Belmondo performed a notable stunt on the elevated metro roof for the 1975 film Fear Over the City.
The path is well-marked and easy to navigate, suitable for cyclists of all levels. Keep in mind that wet conditions can make the surface slippery, so caution is advised during or after rain.
The municipal council made an exception to the five-year waiting period rule after death to name this public space in March 2023.
