Highline Trailhead South, Mountain trailhead in West Glacier, United States.
Highline Trailhead South is a mountain trailhead in West Glacier that begins an 11.6-mile route through Glacier National Park. The path follows the Continental Divide and offers views of mountain ranges and deep valleys throughout the journey.
Indigenous peoples traveled through this area for centuries before it became a formal trail in the early 1900s. The National Park Service developed and marked the route to guide visitors through the mountainous terrain.
The trail carries local stories about the mountains and connects visitors with Montana's heritage through the landscape itself. Interpretation signs along the route explain the geology and natural features people have crossed through for generations.
Access is available from June through September when the Going-to-the-Sun Road is open to Logan Pass Visitor Center. Parking and visitor facilities are available at the trailhead to help you prepare for the hike.
One section of the route crosses a steep mountainside along a narrow ledge equipped with metal cables for support. These handrails help hikers navigate the exposed and challenging passage safely.
