Riverbanks Botanical Garden

Riverbanks Botanical Garden is a large-scale park with thousands of plant species arranged in themed sections including the Asian Garden, Old Rose Garden, and Walled Garden. The grounds also feature specialized areas such as the Bog Garden and Collection Garden, each showcasing different plant types and growing conditions.

The garden developed on the foundation of the region's horticultural tradition and houses a significant collection of Noisette roses from South Carolina's 1800s heritage. These historical rose varieties have been preserved and remain an important part of the collection today.

The Asian Garden reflects traditional Japanese design principles developed through partnership with Ikebana Chapter 182. Visitors experience here how plants and spaces are arranged following these cultural ideas.

The garden is open to visitors daily and features well-maintained pathways connecting all themed areas for easy access. The layout allows you to navigate between different sections without difficulty.

A special area called Waterfall Junction spans several acres and was designed specifically as a children's garden with interactive installations. This space invites young visitors to discover nature through hands-on play and exploration.
