Evans Plunge

Evans Plunge

Evans Plunge is a historic water facility fed by natural hot springs with mineral-rich water kept at around 87 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. The brick building features a main swimming pool, smaller children's areas, water slides, and amenities including hot tubs, saunas, a steam room, and exercise equipment on the premises.

Evans Plunge was established in 1890, making it the oldest continuously operating thermal bath facility in the Black Hills region. It was built to capitalize on the natural hot springs that had long drawn people seeking health and relaxation to the area.

Evans Plunge is named after its founder and represents the region's tradition of using natural hot springs for relaxation and wellness. The place draws both locals and travelers who gather here regularly to soak in the warm mineral water, reflecting how this site remains central to the community's leisure habits.

Bring your swimwear and a towel, as lockers are available for storing personal items during your visit. Arriving early gives you better options for finding a comfortable spot to swim or relax, especially on weekends and holidays when the facility tends to be busier.

The pool is continuously fed by over 5,000 gallons of mineral water per minute from a thermal spring, keeping the water fresh and naturally filtered. This constant flow makes the pool self-cleansing and sets it apart from typical facilities that rely on chemical treatment systems.
