The Black Hills Playhouse presents seasonal productions with performers from across the United States in a building within Custer State Park's natural surroundings.
Founded in 1946, the Black Hills Playhouse has maintained a tradition of theatrical performances, contributing to South Dakota's performing arts development for over seven decades.
The theatre organization operates programs including Dakota Players Tours and BHP Jr. Camps, which bring educational theatre experiences to communities throughout South Dakota.
The 2025 season includes performances of Murder on the Orient Express, Legally Blonde, Waitress, and The Book of Will from June through August.
The theatre conducts sleep-away camps for students in grades 5 through 12, combining performing arts education with the natural environment of Custer State Park.
