Koka

Koka is a beach on the eastern coast of Flores with white sand and turquoise water, nestled between two vegetated hills. The bay stretches across several kilometers and is defined by rocky outcrops that divide the water into different zones.

The Koka area has long been home to fishing communities that depended on the sea for survival. These families passed down their skills across generations and continue to shape the region today.

Local fishermen maintain traditional fishing methods at Koka Beach, using small boats and nets to catch fish in the early morning hours.

The drive involves winding roads from nearby towns, so allow extra time for travel. The beach itself has few facilities, so bring water, snacks, and sun protection.

A rocky ridge divides the beach into two separate bays, with one offering calm swimming water and the other presenting waves for surfing. This natural division makes each side of the beach suited for different activities.
