Spiaggia della Paolina

Spiaggia della Paolina is a beach near Procchio on Elba featuring fine sand mixed with small pebbles across roughly 100 meters of shoreline. The area is framed by dense holm oak forest and bordered by clear Mediterranean water.

The beach takes its name from Pauline Bonaparte, Napoleon's sister, who favored a nearby rocky formation for swimming and relaxing during her time on the island. This connection to Napoleonic history remains embedded in the place's identity.

The beach reflects typical Italian coastal traditions through its mix of free public areas and managed beach facilities run by Bagni Paolina. This division shows how seaside places along the Mediterranean often blend informal access with organized services.

Access is gained through a wooden staircase of about 75 steps descending from the provincial road, with parking available along wider road sections. The beach tends to fill up on sunny days, so arriving early in the day works best.

During low tide, a small island in front of the beach becomes walkable, allowing visitors to wade through shallow water to reach nearby Redinoce beach. This creates a temporary natural bridge between two otherwise separate locations.
