Spiaggia dell'Ottone

Spiaggia dell'Ottone is a sand beach along the eastern side of Portoferraio gulf, featuring a mix of sand and shingle. The shallow waters near the shore make it a comfortable spot for swimming and wading.

Two ancient furnaces near the beach reveal its industrial past, when workers processed limestone extracted from local quarries. These structures tell of an era when the shore was a center of craftsmanship and production.

The beach offers direct views of Portoferraio's historical center, including the Medicean Fortress and lighthouse, connecting visitors to the town's architectural landmarks. This vantage point makes the place feel part of the region's cultural heart rather than separate from it.

To reach the beach, follow the main road toward Bagnaia where roadside parking is available, though spaces are limited. A wooden bridge provides easy pedestrian access across the sand.

The 19th-century Villa Ottone hotel occupies the central section of the beach with rental equipment, while the outer areas remain open for public use. This shared arrangement creates a mix of managed hospitality and casual beach access.
