Spiaggia di Nisporto

Spiaggia di Nisporto is a shingle beach situated in a horseshoe-shaped bay on the north coast of Rio nell'Elba. The shoreline is covered with multicolored pebbles mixed with sand, and the water displays varying shades of blue depending on depth and light conditions.

The beach was a significant loading point in the 19th century for exporting limestone processed in a red brick kiln situated on the shore. This structure, which resembles a dancer, survives today as evidence of the area's industrial past.

The name Nisporto derives from its past role as a port area serving the island's mining industry. This maritime heritage remains present in how locals speak about the beach and the stories connected to its former economic activity.

The beach is accessible via a well-maintained asphalt road from Rio nell'Elba and offers parking near the entrance. Equipment rental services including umbrellas and snorkeling gear are available on site, making it easy to spend a full day here.

The seafloor shifts dramatically from rocky formations and reefs on the western side to gradually sloping sandbars in the center and east. This natural structure creates distinct zones that appeal to different swimmers and water sports enthusiasts.
