Jamaica Beach, Shingle beach near Grotte di Catullo, Sirmione, Italy

Jamaica Beach is a shingle beach along Lake Garda in Sirmione, situated directly below ancient Roman ruins. The white stones form natural terraces at varying heights that slope toward the water, opening views across the lake to distant mountains.

The beach sits beneath the remains of a Roman residence from the first century BC, built by the Roman poet Catullus on this lakeside location. The site directly connects visitors to these ancient structures while serving as a modern bathing place.

This beach draws local swimmers and sun-seekers who appreciate its quiet location away from crowded tourist zones. The shingle shore creates natural gathering spots where people find their own peaceful corners throughout the day.

Access is through a gate near the grotto entrance, with a steep path leading downward through an olive grove to reach the beach. Wear sturdy shoes for the uneven terrain and allow extra time for the descent.

The beach stones are remarkably pale and smooth, making them ideal for sunbathing while creating natural alcoves for privacy. This mineral quality sets it apart from other coves around Lake Garda.
