RCN Strand

RCN Strand is a beach along the Wolderwijd lake featuring sandy shores and shallow water sections suitable for swimming and water sports. The site includes designated swimming areas, equipment rental stations, and a separate section with very shallow water for children.

This beach sits on reclaimed land created during a major 20th-century land reclamation project that shaped the Flevoland province. Dikes and water drainage systems turned former seabed into habitable land, and the Wolderwijd lake emerged as part of this engineering effort.

This beach serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors meet throughout the warmer months for swimming and leisure activities. Events and seasonal celebrations here reflect how the community uses the water's edge as part of their daily life.

The beach connects to a bicycle ferry that carries riders across the Wolderwijd lake to the Veluwe region's trails and forests on the other side. This link lets cyclists extend their journeys and explore further without returning the same way.
