Praia Fluvial de Fornelos

Praia Fluvial de Fornelos is a river beach along the Aguilhão River with sandy banks and natural swimming areas. The site features green spaces for relaxation and multiple zones for different activities along the waterfront.

The beach area was established in 1998 and had been a site of human activity since ancient times. A preserved Roman ceramic oven from the 4th century shows that building materials were once produced here.

The two granite churches nearby showcase Portuguese Baroque style from the 18th century and hold religious objects from earlier periods. These structures remain important landmarks that shape how locals and visitors perceive the landscape.

The site has changing rooms, picnic tables, and parking nearby the water. A snack bar operates during the swimming season and provides drinks and light meals.

Two bridges connect the shores of Fornelos and Louredo and display different construction styles. One was built using traditional materials like schist and granite.
