Praia do Burgau

Praia do Burgau extends between steep limestone cliffs, with golden sand meeting the Atlantic Ocean at the base of a traditional fishing village.

The beach developed from a vital fishing port in the 1800s to a recreational destination while preserving its maritime heritage through local fishing practices.

Local fishermen continue their centuries-old traditions by launching their boats from the small concrete pier at the eastern end of the beach.

The beach offers basic facilities including restrooms, a lifeguard station during summer months, and several restaurants within walking distance of the sand.

When high tide arrives, the beach transforms as water reaches the cliff base, creating a natural swimming pool effect in the protected cove.
