Tambaba, Nude beach in Conde, Brazil
Tambaba is a naturist beach along the coast of Paraíba with rocky formations that divide it into two sections, separating a textile area from a clothing-optional zone. Natural pools form between the stones and fill with blue-green water at high tide.
Since 1991 this beach has been recognized as the first official nude beach in northeastern Brazil and established guidelines for bare bathing. The southern half has followed strict naturist rules ever since.
The Association Tambaba Naked maintains specific behavioral guidelines to ensure respectful naturist practices among visitors from different backgrounds.
The path to the southern naturist area runs through a monitored stairway on the right side, roughly 40 kilometers (25 miles) from João Pessoa. Weekends and holidays draw more visitors, while weekdays remain quieter.
A viewpoint called Princess Castle rises 60 meters (200 feet) above the sea and shows a tower-shaped rock formed by erosion. Many visitors climb up to look down at the coast and the waves from above.
