Loken Resort

Loken Resort is a mountain resort at high elevation in Tongging with views of Lake Toba and surrounding mountains, featuring Dutch-inspired architecture. The property spreads across multiple buildings with windmills, gardens, and outdoor areas set within the natural mountain landscape.

The resort began as a small lodging facility in the Karo district and later expanded into a full resort destination near Lake Toba. Its growth was driven by combining the local mountain setting with European design elements that appealed to travelers.

The resort blends Indonesian hospitality with Dutch architectural elements visible in its windmills and traditional building styles. Visitors experience this combination while walking through the different areas and outdoor spaces.

The drive via Jamin Ginting Road from Medan takes about three and a half hours through hilly terrain with curves. The area is best accessed during daylight, and visitors should bring appropriate clothing for the cooler mountain climate.
