Wypiekuś, Dwarf statue in Nadodrze district, Wrocław, Poland.
Wypiekuś is a small bronze figure of a baker dwarf positioned at street level in the Nadodrze district. The statue forms part of a much larger collection of dwarf sculptures scattered throughout the city streets.
The dwarf was created following a movement from the 1980s that used street art to oppose the communist regime. This art form continued to grow and developed into the widespread collection that now decorates the city.
The name comes from Polish baking traditions and references the craft of bread-making that once shaped the neighborhood. Walking through the streets, you notice how these figures celebrate ordinary work and local trades.
The figure is easy to locate on foot in Nadodrze and sits on a popular walking route through the collection. It helps to move slowly through the streets and keep your eyes open to spot all the artworks in the area.
Wypiekuś was added to the collection in 2024, showing how this art movement remains active today. Visitors are often surprised to learn there are more than 300 such figures spread across the city, many still waiting to be discovered.
