The Folklore Museum spans 1,240 square meters across 23 exhibition rooms, presenting daily life objects and traditions from Tournai and its surrounding region.
The museum building dates from the 17th century and contains a large relief map commissioned by Louis XIV showing Tournai's layout in 1701.
The exhibits display numerous traditional professions including shoemakers, blacksmiths, and coopers, along with domestic objects from 1800 to 1950.
The museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 to 17:00 and Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, with admission fees of 2.60 euros for adults.
The collection includes Belgium's first mobile chip shop and contains an extensive array of historical items such as a period hearse and cotton stocking maker equipment.
