Carrousel du Pont de la Guillotière

The Carrousel du Pont de la Guillotière is a traditional carousel on Place Antonin Jutard featuring various animal figures such as giraffe, horse, ostrich, lion, tiger, bear, and monkey, along with a train and hot air balloon. The structure offers diverse riding options for visitors of different ages.

The carousel was established more than 15 years ago on the left bank of the Rhône river and has since become a permanent fixture in the local recreational landscape. It has shaped daily life and leisure in the neighborhood since then.

The carousel bears the name Jules Verne and plays circus music while illuminating the square with colorful lights. It has become a gathering place for families from the local area.

The carousel is easily accessible on a central square in the third arrondissement. Visitors should be aware that the square becomes more crowded during peak times and offers better views when visiting at quieter hours.

In July 2019, the carousel was damaged during celebrations following an Algerian football team victory, leading to increased security measures. This event showed how significant the structure is to the neighborhood and beyond.
