The Malta Classic Car Collection
The Malta Classic Car Collection is an automobile museum in St. Paul's Bay housing over 100 restored vehicles from various countries and decades displayed across approximately 3000 square meters. The museum also features memorabilia such as gramophones, vintage televisions, and jukeboxes from the 1940s through 1960s.
The museum opened in 2005, founded by Carol Galea, an automobile enthusiast who wanted to share his passion for vehicles with the public. Following Galea's death in 2021, his children Mark and Mandy took over operations and continue developing the collection.
The collection brings together vehicles from different countries and eras alongside household items from the 1940s through 1960s, such as gramophones and vintage television sets. These objects help visitors understand the daily life and culture of the periods when these cars were in use.
The museum is easily accessible on Tourists Street in Qawra and welcomes visitors during weekday mornings through afternoon hours. Admission prices are modest with reduced rates for children, and a typical visit takes about 1 to 2 hours to view the collection at a relaxed pace.
Mark Galea, the founder's son, is an accomplished racing driver who competes in international racing events and runs Prospeed Parts, a company specializing in racing components. This family connection shows how their passion for automobiles extends beyond collecting into active motorsport involvement.
