Camping de los Baños, Mountain campground at Posets-Maladeta Natural Park entrance, Benasque, Spain
Camping de los Baños is a campground at the entrance of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park near the French border, surrounded by Pyrenean peaks and valleys. The site has about 50 organized plots with room for roughly 150 campers and caravans, plus hot shower facilities, electrical hookups, and an on-site restaurant.
The site developed in the 1970s as part of regional efforts to promote mountain tourism in Benasque. This infrastructure made the Pyrenees more accessible to visitors and helped establish the area as a destination for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.
The campground sits along ancient shepherding routes and mountain passes that reflect how people traditionally lived in these high valleys. Visitors can walk the same paths that herders used for centuries, giving a sense of how this mountain way of life has shaped the area.
The campground is open year-round, but May through September offers the best conditions with clear trails and accessible mountain paths. Getting there by car is easiest since public transportation to this mountain location is limited, and having your own vehicle makes exploring the surrounding area much more convenient.
The ground slopes naturally, creating built-in terraces that give each spot more privacy and better views into the mountain valleys below. This sloped layout also reduces sightlines between plots, making the camping experience feel more secluded and peaceful.
