Byxbee Park

The park extends across grasslands and wetlands, featuring paved trails that wind through natural landscapes beside the San Francisco Bay.

The land transformed from a former landfill site into a public recreation area following recommendations by John Fletcher Byxbee, Palo Alto's City Engineer from 1878.

Environmental art installations throughout the park combine with interpretive signs to educate visitors about local ecology and natural resources.

Located at 2375 Embarcadero Road, the park maintains operating hours from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, with parking available near entrance points.

Methane vents integrated into the landscape serve as functional reminders of the park's previous use while supporting current environmental management practices.
