Palo Alto Medical Clinic, Medical clinic founded in 1932 in Palo Alto, California, also a historical building

The Palo Alto Medical Clinic is a clinic building constructed in 1932 and notable for its Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. The structure designed by architect Birge Clark features a U-shaped layout surrounding a courtyard, clay tile roofing, rustic wood balconies, and a covered loggia corridor with murals depicting medical scenes.

The clinic was founded in 1932 as a collaborative space where multiple physicians could practice together. It became one of the earliest group practices in the region and earned listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The building displays Spanish Colonial Revival design that shaped its distinctive appearance in the 1930s. The murals inside by Victor Arnautoff depict medical themes and show how people viewed healthcare during that era.

The building sits at Homer Street near Bryant Street and is easy to reach on foot. The interior loggia and courtyard layout make it straightforward to explore the design of the spaces.

One of the murals features a woman being examined unclothed, which caused unexpected attention and traffic disruptions when it was unveiled. This controversial depiction remains a memorable part of Victor Arnautoff's artistic vision for the space.
