Torre del Passero Solitario, Medieval tower in Recanati, Italy
The Torre del Passero Solitario stands within the cloister of the Gothic Church of Sant'Agostino, reaching upward with its stone construction.
A lightning strike in the late nineteenth century removed the top section of this thirteenth-century tower, which remains part of the Sant'Agostino complex.
The tower gained recognition through Giacomo Leopardi's poem 'Il Passero Solitario', where he compared himself to a sparrow perched on its summit.
Visitors can reach the tower by following signs through Recanati's historic center, with parking available near the Sant'Agostino Church complex.
The bell tower provides views across the Marche countryside, creating the same panorama that inspired Leopardi's reflections on solitude and nature.
