Jezero Bajer

Bajer Lake covers 0.36 square kilometers at 717 meters elevation, created by damming the Ličanka River with an average depth of 2 to 7 meters and holding approximately one million cubic meters of water.

Built in 1952 as part of the Vinodol hydroelectric system, this artificial reservoir transformed the former Ličanka River valley into a strategic water storage facility for local energy production and regional development.

The lake serves as a gathering place for local communities who organize fishing competitions, educational workshops about fish conservation, and cultural events promoting traditional crafts and customs of the Fužine region.

Visitors can fish with proper licenses, rent boats and canoes, walk along a six-kilometer promenade circling the lake, and access nearby restaurants, accommodations, and parking facilities throughout the year.

Vrelo Cave, discovered during the lake's construction in 1950, was renovated in 1998 without stairs to provide wheelchair accessibility, making it one of the few barrier-free underground attractions in Croatia.
