Piè di marmo, sculpture in Rome, Italy

Piè di marmo is a large marble foot in Rome depicting the left sole of the goddess Isis. The fragment measures approximately 4 feet (1.2 m) and comes from an original statue that stood at least 26 feet (9 m) tall.

The foot was originally part of a statue in the Iseum Campense, a temple to the Egyptian gods Isis and Serapis that became extremely popular in Rome. It was relocated in 1878 to clear a path for the funeral procession of King Victor Emanuel II to the Pantheon.

The foot belonged to Isis, an Egyptian goddess worshipped throughout the Roman world. It reflects how Rome embraced and incorporated foreign religions and cultures into daily life.

The foot is located on Via di Santo Stefano del Cacco and is easily accessible on foot. The nearest bus stop, called Plebiscito, is served by many lines including routes 30, 46, 62, and 64.

The fragment was moved from its original location to make room for public ceremonies. Its current placement differs from where it originally stood as part of the grand temple complex.
