I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, International airport in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.

The airport features a 3,000-meter runway constructed with hot-mix asphalt capable of supporting large aircraft including the Airbus A380, with modern terminal facilities covering over 194,000 square meters and handling over 12 million passengers annually.

Originally established in 1931 by Dutch colonial administration as Tuban Airfield with a simple grass runway, the airport was occupied by Japanese forces during World War II before undergoing extensive post-war development and modernization.

Named after I Gusti Ngurah Rai, a Balinese national hero who died fighting Dutch colonial forces during the Indonesian National Revolution in 1946, the airport serves as a symbol of Balinese patriotism and resistance.

The airport operates daily from 07:30 until midnight on weekdays and until 22:00 on weekends, offering comprehensive passenger services including duty-free shops, currency exchange offices, car rentals, and various ground transportation options.

The airport made history by serving its first scheduled Airbus A380 flight operated by Emirates in June 2023, requiring specific aerobridge modifications to accommodate the aircraft's upper deck passenger boarding.
