Parc des Berges Nord, Park along the Rhône in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon, France
Parc des Berges Nord is a riverside park in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon, set between the Quai du Canada and Avenue Leclerc, just before the Pont Pasteur bridge. It sits on a gentle rise along the Rhône and combines open grassy areas, flowerbeds, stone benches under large plane trees, and a small children's play area at its northern end.
The park was created in the early 1980s, before the full development of Lyon's riverbanks between the city center and the Gerland district. It was part of the city's early effort to open the Rhône's edges to the public, alongside the growth of the hotel zone that developed nearby.
The Parc des Berges Nord runs along the Rhône and is a place where locals come to walk, cycle, or simply sit by the water on most days. The belvedere terrace, which looks out over the river, draws people who want to stop and take in the view for a moment.
A red asphalt path runs through the park and is shared by walkers and cyclists, so it is worth staying aware of your surroundings on busy days. The park can be entered from several points, with the Quai du Canada and Avenue Leclerc being the most straightforward access routes.
A nearby area south of the Pont Pasteur shares the same name, which sometimes leads visitors to confuse the two separate spaces. One path in the park climbs a set of steps along the bridge's pillars and leads to small wooded spots with benches tucked behind restaurant terraces overlooking the river.
