Gungnamji, Historic pond in Buyeo County, South Korea
Gungnamji is an artificial pond set within Seodong Park in Buyeo County, South Korea. It has a roughly round shape, stone-edged banks, and a small mound at its center surrounded by trees.
The pond was created around the year 634 under King Mu of the Baekje Dynasty and was part of the royal estate. A long waterway was dug to connect it to a water source, showing the scale of effort behind its construction.
The site sits within Seodong Park, which is easy to walk around, and nearby parking makes it accessible by car. Other historic sites in Buyeo are close by, so it pairs naturally with a half-day of exploration in the area.
