The Ore Mountain Mining Region spans 95 kilometers along the border between Saxony and North Bohemia, containing 22 preserved mining monuments and sites.
The mining activities in the region started in 1168 with silver extraction in Christiansdorf and continued without interruption until 1990, producing silver, tin, and uranium.
Mining traditions shaped the region through architectural developments, urban planning, and specialized educational systems that influenced mining practices across multiple countries.
Visitors can explore numerous preserved mine shafts, industrial facilities, and dedicated museums that display mining equipment and demonstrate historical extraction techniques.
The region features five distinct mining landscapes, each representing different ore extractions, from silver and tin to cobalt, iron, and uranium deposits.
