Malchor, Mountain summit near Lysá hora, Czech Republic
Malchor is a mountain summit in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids standing at 1219 meters and forming the highest spur extending from Lysá hora. The peak connects to surrounding hiking routes through forest paths that lead visitors through the wooded landscape.
The peak was renamed from Melichar to Malchor in 1836 and may be named after a shepherd who worked in the surrounding pastures. This change reflects the pastoral heritage of the mountain region.
The Malchor intersection marks the final stage of the northern ascent to Lysá hora, connecting blue and yellow hiking trails through forested paths.
Hikers reach the summit through forest paths starting from a junction point located about one kilometer south of Lysá hora. Trail markers help visitors navigate the wooded terrain to find their way.
The peak meets nearly all the requirements to be classified as an independent mountain, but falls just short on one measure. Its prominence from the saddle measures less than 15 meters, making it a borderline case among mountain classification standards.
