Travný, Nature reserve in Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic.
Travný is a nature reserve on the western slope of a mountain in the Moravian-Silesian region and spreads across a forested area with varying elevations. The terrain consists of dense beech forests, wild herbs, and different soil types distributed across the slope.
The area was placed under protection in the early 2000s and incorporated into the larger CHKO Beskidy conservation area. This decision was part of a plan to safeguard the mountain forests and their fragile ecosystems.
The place takes its name from the mountain on whose western slope it sits, and this name runs deep in local identity. People use the trails here for hiking and nature watching, with the old beech forests leaving a strong impression on visitors.
Several marked hiking trails run through the reserve, offering different routes for various skill levels. Visitors should stay on the paths and observe animals and plants respectfully without disturbing them.
The forest shelters rare animal and plant species, including wild lynx and gray wolves that inhabit this mountain area. At the same time, old trees grow here that have stood for more than two centuries, giving the landscape a special character.
