Velký Máj, Mountain summit in Hrubý Jeseník range, Czech Republic

Velký Máj is a summit of 1,385 m in the main ridge of the Hrubý Jeseník, between Vysoká hole and Jelení hřbet, in the Praděd massif. Its top is a slightly domed high-mountain meadow with patches of dwarf pine and a small pool; the slopes below are mostly spruce forest with few clearings and no large rock groups.

The summit lies on the main ridge of Hrubý Jeseník between Kamzičník and Jelení hřbet, about 4.3 km southwest of Praděd. A monument with a memorial plaque, erected in 1937 on the western slope at 1,306 m, bears the image of Baron František III Klein von Wiesenberk of the Klein family, long associated with the Jeseníky region.

On the western slope, about 350 m along the green trail from the Nad Malým kotlem junction toward U Františkovy myslivny at 1,306 m, stands a monument erected in 1937; its plaque bears the image of Baron František III Klein von Wiesenberk of the Klein family, long associated with the Hrubý Jeseník.

The mountain can be reached via marked trails starting from Loučná nad Desnou in the surrounding area. Winter visits require proper equipment and caution due to snow and icy conditions that persist from December through March.

No marked trail leads to the exact top; hikers leave the red trail at Ovčárná and walk about 4 km southwest, then turn right and continue roughly 190 m to the summit. A small pool of water lies on the summit meadow.
