Podolí Swimming Stadium is a sports complex in the Podolí district with multiple pools for different purposes. The facility includes two 50-meter pools plus a 33-meter pool, with both indoor and outdoor swimming options available.
The complex opened in 1965 after the site had been used for mining previously. The construction project began in 1959 and took about 6 years to complete.
The building was designed by Richard Podzemný with a shape that resembles a large wave, giving the complex its distinctive look. This architectural character earned it recognition as a cultural monument.
The location is easy to reach by public transport and has ample parking nearby. The complex is well signposted, and visitors should bring their own towels and swimming shoes.
The building was remarkable as a modern structure when it opened and remains a notable example of postwar architecture today. Its design has made it a landmark of the neighborhood, frequently mentioned in local publications.
