Mittagsberg is an observation tower in the Šumava Mountains offering views across the border region where Czech, German, and Austrian landscapes meet. The viewing platform allows visitors to see the terrain spanning these three countries on clear days.

The tower was built as a military installation during the Cold War, serving as a surveillance and communication post along the Iron Curtain. Following the fall of communist rule, the structure was repurposed for public access and tourism.

The tower represents a meeting point between three European nations, reflecting the changes in border relations since the fall of communism in Eastern Europe.

Access to the viewing platform is via stairs during opening hours from April through October. Wear sturdy shoes as the route can be steep and mountain weather changes quickly.

The tower still operates radio equipment from its military era alongside modern tourist facilities. This blend of old and new functions makes it a visible example of how Cold War structures have been repurposed.
