Muzeum Fojtství

Muzeum Fojtství occupies a stone building from the 18th century with exhibition rooms displaying carriage manufacturing and local crafts. The site includes a barn with preserved vehicles and a courtyard featuring a neo-Gothic stone structure.

The building was constructed in 1789 and long served as a local administrative center. Ignác Šustala, who later founded what became the Tatra automobile company, was born here in 1822.

The collections here show how carriage-making shaped daily life and trade in this town, with objects that reveal practical skills passed through generations.

The museum is easily accessible on foot with exhibitions spread across multiple rooms you can explore at your own pace. Plan extra time to see the courtyard and outbuildings, which hold important parts of the collection.

The upper floor was once a grain storage area that is now used as an art gallery featuring rotating shows. This repurposing of the historic space makes it worth visiting beyond the carriage exhibits.
