San Joaquin Delta College is a public community college in Stockton, California, set on a campus of roughly 175 acres that includes classrooms, laboratories, and sports facilities. It offers two-year programs and certificates in fields such as healthcare, business, technology, and skilled trades.
The college was founded in 1935 as a small program within the local school district and grew into its own separate district by 1963. It then moved to its current, much larger site in 1972, where it has remained ever since.
San Joaquin Delta College draws students from across California's Central Valley, bringing together people from many different backgrounds in a single shared space. Events and gatherings on campus reflect the everyday life of the surrounding Stockton community.
The campus is large and open, so wearing comfortable shoes and following the visitor signs will help you find your way around. Parking is available on site, though it tends to fill up during peak class hours.
The college baseball team, the Mustangs, produced dozens of players who went on to compete in Major League Baseball, an unusually high number for a community college. Coach Pat Doyle guided the program for decades and led the team to multiple state titles during his tenure.
