Athol Manor, Historic manor building in Columbia, United States

Athol Manor is a two-story colonial building with traditional features including symmetrical windows, brick construction, and careful woodwork throughout. The structure displays the craftsmanship of early building phases in the Columbia area and keeps details that are typical of its era.

The building originated from a royal grant of 600 acres in 1732 to a clergyman for establishing a Church of England location. From this church foundation came the structure and its connections that remain visible today.

The manor carries Scottish heritage in its name and served for years as a rectory connected to Christ Church Guilford. This link to the Anglican Church remains part of how the community understands the building's role in local life.

The property sits on Martin Road and now hosts a community foundation with spaces for meetings and events. Visitors should check ahead about access options since it functions as an active site.

The property has shrunk to just a few acres today, while it once covered hundreds of acres, showing the dramatic land divisions over three centuries in the region. This shrinkage of the estate reflects how the rural area transformed over time.
