James and Anne Robinson Nature Center

The Robinson Nature Center spans 18 acres of parkland adjacent to the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area with a 23,000-square-foot building dedicated to environmental education.

James and Anne Robinson protected this land from development since 1957, leading to its transformation into a nature center through a purchase agreement with Howard County in 2005.

The center provides over 450 annual programs including field trips, public events, and educational activities that connect visitors with local wildlife and plant species.

Visitors can explore the center Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday from noon to 5:00 PM at 6692 Cedar Lane in Columbia.

The facility earned LEED Platinum certification through its implementation of geothermal systems, solar panels, porous paving, and water conservation methods.
