Lightning Run is a Hyper GT-X steel roller coaster built by Chance Rides at Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville, Kentucky. Its 762 m (2,500 ft) track covers a footprint of 68.6 m by 208.8 m, rises 30.5 m (100 ft) and drops at 80 degrees. Two five-car trains carry eight riders each, four rows of two, and the layout delivers nine airtime moments.

Six Flags closed Kentucky Kingdom in February 2010 after lease talks with the Kentucky State Fair Board failed. Local investor Ed Hart returned in May 2010, but negotiations ended in September 2011; a Holiday World plan to reopen it as Bluegrass Boardwalk also collapsed in June 2012. In August 2012 Hart proposed a US$7 million coaster from Chance Rides, and Lightning Run opened on May 24, 2014.

Chance Rides built Lightning Run as a new model made specifically for Kentucky Kingdom, the Hyper GT-X. In the 2014 Golden Ticket Awards of Amusement Today it placed fifth among best new rides with 9% of the vote. Its two trains each carry five cars, with eight riders per car in four rows of two.

Lightning Run stands on a 68.6 m by 208.8 m footprint inside Kentucky Kingdom, with its 30.5 m lift hill and 80-degree first drop visible from much of the park. Riders board one of two five-car trains, each car seating eight people in four rows of two, so the queue moves in batches of 40 per train.

Lightning Run was not the originally planned coaster: Ed Hart's August 2012 proposal to the Kentucky State Fair Board included a US$15 million Bolliger & Mabillard ride, later scaled to a US$7 million coaster from a different manufacturer, Chance Rides. Chance Rides built the Hyper GT-X model specifically for the park, and it remains the only one operating.
