St. James Court Art Show, Art fair in Old Louisville, United States
The St. James Court Art Show takes place across four blocks in the historic Old Louisville neighborhood, with around 600 artists exhibiting their work. The artists display pieces in 17 different mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, and crafts.
This art show began in 1957 and grew from a small neighborhood event to a recognized exhibition in Kentucky. The Old Louisville neighborhood itself developed as an upscale residential area in the late 1800s.
The name comes from Saint James, and the neighborhood preserves its Victorian character through detailed architecture from the 1800s. Walking through, you notice elegant storefronts and garden courtyards that reflect how prosperous residents once lived here.
The event runs for one weekend each year and spreads across multiple blocks, so wear comfortable shoes for walking around. Admission is free, and the grounds are easy to navigate on foot with clear signage throughout the area.
The event is organized by neighborhood associations and a local church rather than a single large institution. This grassroots approach has shaped it into six separate sections that each have their own distinct character and artist communities.
