Old Roosevelt Bridge, Bascule bridge on Dixie Highway in Stuart, Florida.
The Old Roosevelt Bridge extends 1,229 feet across the St. Lucie River, featuring a two-lane roadway that measures 28 feet in width.
Built in 1964 to replace a 1934 structure, the bridge originally served as part of US Route 1 until the construction of a new crossing in 1996.
The bridge serves as a connection point between North Stuart and downtown Stuart, maintaining the historical transportation route established by early settlers.
The structure accommodates approximately 11,500 vehicles daily while allowing river vessels to pass through its movable bascule span system.
Remnants of the 1934 bridge section remain abandoned on the north side of the river, marking the evolution of Stuart's river crossings.
