Stuart Welcome Arch

Stuart Welcome Arch is a gateway spanning County Road 707 between Northeast Dixie Highway, featuring two towers connected by a horizontal beam that displays directional signage. The structure sits prominently at ground level where local traffic moves through daily.

The arch was built in 1926 by the Stuart Chamber of Commerce to mark the boundary between Jensen and Stuart and celebrate Martin County's establishment. It represented how early communities in Florida sought to create distinct identities during their period of growth.

The arch marks the entry to Stuart and has long served as a traditional meeting point where people pause to take photos and orient themselves when moving between neighborhoods.

The arch sits directly on County Road 707 and is easily accessible by foot or vehicle since it crosses a main road. Those stopping to photograph or examine it closely should be aware of passing traffic in the area.

The structure has undergone several transformations over the decades, including a repainting in pink during 1994 and various repairs to the crossbeam following weather damage and vehicle impacts. These changes show how the gateway has adapted alongside the community's evolution.
