Sage Library, Public library in Bay City, Michigan.
The three-story brick building features a steeply pitched hipped roof, multi-colored ashlar fieldstone foundation, and decorative pink Amherst stone details throughout its exterior.
Henry W. Sage presented this French Châteauesque style library to the Bay City community, with its grand opening taking place on January 16, 1884.
The library maintains its original room arrangements from 1884, evolving from an initial collection of 10,000 books to more than 110,000 volumes by the 1970s.
Located at 100 E. Midland Street, the library operates within the Bay County Library System and underwent substantial renovations between 1982 and 1984.
The structure holds the distinction of being Michigan's oldest continuously operated library building, spanning an area of 1.3 acres.
