Pillot Building, Historical building in Houston, United States.
The Pillot Building on Congress Avenue is an early 20th-century commercial structure with features typical of downtown Houston's business architecture from that period. The facade displays the construction methods and materials that were standard for commercial buildings in the area at that time.
The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and later experienced a major structural collapse. It was rebuilt in 1988 using original materials recovered from the damaged structure.
The building reflects how Houston's commercial district developed and the local tastes in design during that era. Walking past it, you notice the architectural choices that made sense for a growing business center.
The building is located in downtown Houston and is easily accessible on foot from surrounding streets. You can view it from outside, which is the best way to observe its architectural details.
When the building collapsed, reconstruction workers carefully salvaged materials from the original structure to use in rebuilding. This effort to recover and reuse original components helped restore the building while honoring its past.
