St. Regis Chicago, Modern skyscraper in Lakeshore East, Chicago, United States
St. Regis Chicago rises to a height of 363 meters (1191 feet) and consists of three interconnected towers with varying heights. The facades are clad in eight different glass patterns that give the structure a changing appearance.
Construction of the 101-story building began in 2016 and was completed in 2020. It became the third tallest structure in the city and marked an important moment in the development of the skyline.
The tower takes its name from an international luxury hotel brand and combines private residences with public hospitality spaces. Guests and residents share amenities like dining venues and swimming pools distributed throughout the floors.
The complex includes 396 residential units, a hotel with 192 rooms, and several restaurants and fitness areas on different floors. The public areas in the hotel are accessible to visitors while the residential units remain private.
An unoccupied floor in the middle section of the building serves to reduce movement during strong winds. Jeanne Gang designed this tower and created the tallest building designed by a female architect in the world.
