Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower, High-rise office building in East Randolph Street, Chicago, US.
The Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower is a modern high-rise office building at East Randolph Street in Chicago with 57 floors reaching 243 meters tall. Its glass facade overlooks Grant Park and houses offices for several major companies.
The building developed in two phases, starting with a 33-story structure completed in 1997. A second phase added 24 more floors in 2010 directly on top of the existing tower.
At night, the south-facing side lights up with messages about health topics, community events, and local sports teams, turning the building into a talking point across the city.
The lobby is easily accessible, and multiple elevators move visitors throughout the building. The best time to photograph it is at sunset when the glass facade glows most noticeably.
The building was the first in Chicago to stack additional floors directly on top of an existing tower structure. This approach has become a model for how older buildings can be expanded and modernized.
